Latino Leadership On Family Separation: Can it Awaken the 'Sleeping Giant'?

Latino leaders in Congress have been on the front lines of the fight against family separation.

But what can they accomplish as a minority within a minority party and should it even be on them in the first place?

Congressman Joaquin Castro, a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus discusses efforts to end family separation and reunite families, and whether the issue might motivate Latino voters in the fall mid-term elections.

But mobilizing Latino voters — who come from different countries, different life experiences, and who may be several generations removed from immigration — is historically complicated, according to Mark Hugo Lopez, the Director of Hispanic Research at Pew Research Center.
